Retired.
I initially worked for Hiram Scott as an admissions counselor
for Indiana, Ohio and Michigan. I stayed in higher education
working at Utica College of Syracuse University, The New York
State Education Department (Bureau of Higher Education Opportunity
Programs), Chicago State University, Harriman College, Fairleigh
Dickinson University, the Florida Board of Regents, Florida
A&M University, Monmouth University, Clemson University
and Norfolk State University. I've served as faculty, department
chair, director, dean, vice president and interim president
at these institutions. I ran for and was elected a county councilman
in South Carolina. I retired in 2007 after 38 years in the field.
I am married
to Lillie A. Shelton, have four children (two daughters and
two sons), and four grandchildren. So far, volunteer work serving
on the boards of Habitat for Humanity and the Boy Scouts and
keeping up with my two youngest children has kept me busy.
Fond thoughts
of Hiram Scott College ofter come to mind and I wonder how my
classmates are doing. I hope to hear from some soon.
